Lee Maloney

Lee on the 1958 School Photo
I went to the Technical High School from September 1956 until July 1961.  In the picture on the left taken from the 1958 school photo I was seated right in front of "Gunner" Wright

After completing an apprenticeship with A E Davies as an electronic organ (and traditional pipes) builder, I then worked for the Post Office Telephones as a telecoms engineer, until 1974.  Two years Open University led me to a full time degree course in Social Science at York University, followed by a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

In 1974 I married Linda in Northampton Town Hall, who had attended the Northampton School for Girls, and we moved to York in October 1974.  We are still here! I taught Social Studies for ten years, followed by another twelve years teaching engineering, both at Brigshaw High School, in Allerton Bywater, near Leeds, taking early retirement in December 2000.

I have a daughter who is an Air Traffic Control Officer (Flight Lieutenant) in the RAF, and a son who works for Shepherds Construction as an Assistant Site Manager.  My wife and I enjoy our retirement and are active in the U3A, and local dramatics including the York Mystery Plays.  We also work part-time on an ad-hoc basis as House Guides at Castle Howard.  [Castle Howard]

I have acted in the York Mystery Plays and the Waggon Plays since 1992, (including this year, Yorks 800th Anniversary of the Royal Charter).  I also directed the Heslington Millennium Christmas Mysteries.

I began Karate again at tender age of 63, after a thirty five year break, and am now working towards my Black Belt!
